Socialising through events such as Cuppa 'n' Chat get-togethers (coffee mornings), picnics, BBQs and our triannual meetings offers ostomists a welcoming and relaxed way to connect with others who truly understand their experiences. These informal gatherings which are held throughout the year help to reduce feelings of isolation, build confidence, and create a strong sense of belonging by providing a safe space to share stories, tips and laughter without judgement. Spending time together away from clinical settings encourages friendships, emotional support and a more positive outlook, reminding people that life with an ostomy can still be active, social and enjoyable—especially when shared with those who “get it.”

Our events explained:
Members' Meeting: We have three association wide get-togethers every year - in spring, summer and winter (before Christmas). They start with a short meeting when the committee members provide updates on the latest state of affairs and take questions. The meeting is followed by the social part which normally involves a raffle, an external or internal speaker, free buffet meal and when possible an ostomy appliance exhibition. But most of all, it is an opportunity to network.
Cuppa 'n' Chat: This is a coffee morning between 11am and 1pm held at the Community Room, Tesco Extra Supermarket, Ocotal Way, Swindon on the first Thursday every month except January and December. All ostomists and carers welcome to attend. We thank Tesco for providing us with the facility.
Picnics/ BBQ: Dates and venues are decided just before summer. We usually meet at the Old Town Gardens, Lawns Park or Lydiard Park.
